1) The Children’s Education Program (CEP) has six elementary education classes and six teen classes, serving 200
refugee children. The school offers the Sudanese basic education curriculum, taught in English training. Two hot meals, milk
and fruit are provided each child daily.
(2) The Adult Education Program (AEP) offers courses to improve refugees' employment options, such as English, Business
and Accounting, and Computers. This year we are adding practical life skills course, such as Parenting Skills and Conflict
Resolution classes. The AEP serves 600 students.
(3) The African Refugee Cooperative (ARC) teaches arts and crafts production and markets the crafts to generate
income for 30 persons. We are always willing to add additional vocational training and income generation projects.
(4) The Resettlement Legal Aid Office (RLAP): provides legal assistance for resettlement to the USA via
the "Direct Access" program for Iraqi refugees and will assist members of additional refugee groups to resettle to a
third country, depending on their legal eligibility..
(5) The Youth Leadership, Education and Access to Development (Y-LEAD): provides educational services, sports activities,
and hip hop music therapy to at-risk Sudanese refugee youth.
(6) Refugees United for Peaceful Solutions (RUPS): offers refugee-run mediation services and conflict skills trainings. (7)
Best Start Preschool: Opening in January 2010, Best Start offers child care for working families and a school preparation
curriculum for children ages 4-6.
